After much anticipation, Gabriel and Michael have arrived. Labor was induced by breaking my water bag (Gabriel's) at 9:00 AM on October 12. Three hours later, I was wheeled to the OR to deliver them vaginally and naturally. Gabriel was born first healthy and happy and a few minutes later, Michael came out with the help of a vaccuum extractor. Both of them had apgar scores of 8 & 9. |
We were discharged 2 days later and arrived home to see our new big brother Christian. He was pretty mad at us for being gone for so long and didn't exactly welcome the babies but is now adjusting pretty well (thanks to Gramma and Grampa Ester). |
At first, they slept a lot (thank God) but then they started screaming all the time until I quit eating dairy. Now they eat and sleep most of them time but will sometimes stay awake for as long as 30 minutes just looking around taking it all in. |
They are growing a little every day. When we first brought them home, they were less than five pounds each. They were all wrinkly and skinny but are now starting to put on some weight and losing their wrinkles. |
We don't know if they are identical or not for the time being. They each have their own look and have distinct personalities. Gabriel has a pointier chin and is the louder of the two. Michael has a rounder head and chin and is a "happier" baby. When they are next to each other, its fairly easy to tell them apart but when they are apart, its a guessing game half the time. Both of them look like little old men, not the cute chubby cherub that Christian was. I'm sure they will grow into themselves. After all, they were three weeks early. :) |

They go to the doctor in four days. I will post their new weights and measurements then. |
